Battle of the Arts was a great success!

Hyde Park said We have the Best Artists" and we are willing
to put up $400.00 in cash prizes to prove it. We are calling YOU out!
Wed like to see if you have the nerve to come to the Martini Shell
on Truman Highway in Hyde Park on Saturday August 6th, 2011, from 12-3
pm.
Artists brought their art supplies, no finished pieces were allowed
and we battled it out on location to see who the best artist was. Any
medium and any subject matter was allowed.
We asked: Are you confident enough to answer the call or are you chicken?
Were even provided music for the smack down and we had games and
crafts for the kids. All free!
Winners were awarded by Popular Vote:
First Place $250.00: Ariane Fleming
Second Place $100.00 Jacques McGaffie
Third Place $50.00 Mary Cotter
Ariane is from Hyde Park, we we are proud to say that Hyde Park has the
best artists! Come back next year toprove us wrong!! I dare you!

Quincy "Artfest" Awards
J. Marshall Dyke won the following awards:
Honorable Mention for the Quincy Art Association segment.
3rd place in watercolor for the Juried segment.
"Best Quincy Painting" for a painting of Marina Bay!

The Haitian Arts Assembly and Hyde Park Art Association presented: An
Evening of Haitian Music and Entertainment. Idi, Jean Dauphin with special
guests: Mirlande Rouzard, Delva Zof, Jean Danny Joachim, and Charlot Lucien.
August 30, 7-10 pm at the Hyde Park Arts Center, 26 Central Ave., Hyde Park,
MA. Come enjoy this FREE multilingual collaboration! Light refreshments
will be served.
The Arts Center Ribbon Cutting was Saturday, September 20. The ribbon cutting began at 11:00 am. and was followed by the Paul Nolan classroom dedication ceremony. Afterwards, there were refreshments and a gallery exhibit in the auditorium. Annual HPAA board elections took place at 1:00 and will be followed by a free book signing and public art demo by Anatoly Dverin.
