All classes held at the Menino Arts Center unless otherwise specified. If you are a Hyde Park Art Association member, you will receive a 10% discount on all classes. If you are not a member but would like to become one, please fill out the Membership Form.

Summer Art Classes

Fabric Collage with fabric artist Rebecca Holland
Ages 12 - 18
Mondays 10 am –12 pm
4 Weeks, July 14 – August 4

Students will learn to design, cut, stitch and choose fabrics to create their own fabric collage.
Rebecca Holland is an award winning fabric artist specializing in fabric art: quilts, handbags, garment making, and home decor. A member of the HPAA, Rebecca is a resident of Hyde Park and has taught locally.
Beginning Ceramic Tile Making with Judith Ouellette

4 Weeks, July 15 – August 5
$80.00 plus Lab fee additional $35.00
Introductory course for students to make their own ceramic tiles for inclusion in interior mosaic projects or as individual art tiles. Discussion and demonstration will include design, working with wet clay, slab rolling and cutting techniques, surface decoration, relief and glazing. Students will design and produce their own set of ceramic tiles from start to finish using a variety of techniques.
Materials list provided
Judy is an award winning photographer and ceramic artist. Her sharp eye for color and form enliven her work and create distinct motifs. Judy is a member of HPAA and an active Hyde Park resident.
3-D Constructions with Sasja Lucas

Design and build whimsical sculptures using many different recycled materials.
Sasja Lucas is a studio artist with 30 years experience. She has taught all level courses at the Brookline Arts Center, Fuller Museum, Newbury College and the Cornwall Gallery.
KinderArt with Cheryl Murphy
Ages 4-6
Thursdays 10 am - 12 pm
4 weeks, July 31 – August 21

A primary art experience for the little ones. Students will draw, paint, cut and paste and create an art book while learning about color, shape and design.
Cheryl Murphy is a member and president of HPAA. Teaching resume includes St. Andrew's School in Jamaica Plain, Lt. Joseph P. Kennedy Memorial School in Hyde Park, St. Anne's in Readville and the Hyde Park Community Center.
Art Explorations
Ages 6 - 9

Have fun discovering the basics of drawing and painting. Students will use many different media: pencil, charcoal, pastel, tempera paint, and watercolor.
