All classes held at the Menino Arts Center unless otherwise specified. If you are a Hyde Park Art Association member, you will receive a 10% discount on all classes. If you are not a member but would like to become one, please fill out the Membership Form.

Understanding How to Use Your Digital Camera
ages 16 and up
Mondays, 7 – 9 PM
4 weeks, November 3 – November 24 $80.00
This class will focus on learning your camera’s functions so that
you can move beyond your presets and take better pictures. Topics to be
discussed will include how the digital sensor works; file formats like JPEG,
TIFF, and RAW; exposure, metering, and evaluating the camera’s histogram;
basic photographic technique; and a few post-processing techniques for easy
emailing and web-posting of your photos.

Come adventure into the creative world of Art with your child. Using a variety of materials, parent and child will learn from each other as they explore art-making processes which include drawing, painting, collage and assemblage, all the while under the influence of music. Each tot must be accompanied by a parent or childcare giver.

Watercolor and Acrylic Painting - ages 9-12

Discover the magic and science of how to make hundreds of colors from just a few. Then explore the ways artists limit those possibilities to create varying compositions.

Art Explorations - ages 6-12

Have fun discovering the basics of drawing and painting. Students will use many different media: pencil, charcoal, pastel, tempera paint, and watercolor.

KinderArt - ages 4-6
Thursdays, 10:00 am - 12:00 noon
3 weeks, October 16 - October 30, $60.00
6 weeks, November 6 - December 18 (no class November 27), $120.00
A primary art experience for the little ones. Students will draw, paint, cut and paste, and create an art book while learning about color, shape, and design.

Two Sides/Drawing from Observation and Imagination - For teens

Contrasting methods of drawing will be explored. Drawing from direct perception,we'll study form, space, and light utilizing pencil and charcoal. Then we'll approach non-traditional methods, exploring automatic drawings, dreams, and spontaneous abstractions while using made-up tools and mixed media.

Saturday Art Room -- ages 5-12
Saturdays 10:00 am - 11:00 am
Ongoing, September 27 - December 20

Students will be able to come explore and create in our well-stocked art class. Painting, drawing, crafts, and individual attention provided.
